Why Franchisees Fail
Most franchisees do not fail because the system is too complicated. They fail because they stop using it.
The Biggest Risk
The biggest risk in any franchise is not the logo, the market, the software, or the inspection report.
The biggest risk is buying a system and then slowly drifting back into doing things your own way.
That usually looks harmless at first. You skip part of the presentation. You stop showing the report. You forget to mention the differentiators. You stop explaining the add-on services. You stop using the flyer, website, scripts, and tools that were built for you.
Then one day, you are not operating the Inspections Over Coffee system anymore. You are just a friendly inspector having coffee.
Friendly Is Not Enough
Being friendly matters. But friendly alone does not give an agent a reason to call you.
A coffee meeting should not be a casual chat with no business purpose. It should clearly explain what makes the inspection experience better for the agent, the buyer, and the transaction.
If you do not explain the differentiators, nobody can repeat them. If nobody can repeat them, they cannot refer you for them.
The Audience Is New Every Time
You may have explained thermal imaging, sewer scopes, recall monitoring, report clarity, and buyer walkthroughs ten times this week.
But the person in front of you is hearing it for the first time.
They deserve your best version.
It is like putting on a play. The cast may know the lines, but the audience is new every night.
Order Takers Do Not Win
A franchise owner cannot act like an order taker.
When someone asks for a price, the answer is not just a number. The answer should explain what they receive, why the inspection is different, what services are available, and how each service helps them learn more about the property.
We do not pressure people. We do not scare people. We do not sell services people do not need.
But we do explain value.
If a buyer does not understand why radon, sewer scope, mold testing, thermal imaging, or a pool inspection matters, they cannot make an informed decision.
What Not to Do in Agent Meetings
Do not lead with your resume.
Do not spend the meeting talking about yourself.
Do not make agents guess why they should use you.
Do not say, “I do great inspections,” and expect that to be enough.
Agents want to know what your inspection experience does for their clients and their business.
Lead with that.
What Works
- Show the report.
- Explain the buyer walkthrough.
- Explain the Snapshot Section.
- Explain color-coded severity ratings.
- Explain thermal imaging.
- Explain roof inspection technology.
- Explain recall monitoring.
- Explain the full service portfolio.
- Explain how the experience helps reduce buyer anxiety.
- Explain what is in it for the agent and their client.
The System Only Works If You Use It
Inspections Over Coffee provides systems, scripts, reports, flyers, websites, coaching, training, and differentiators.
But no franchise system can care more about your business than you do.
The owners who win are the ones who keep implementing, keep practicing, keep presenting value, keep taking coaching, and keep doing the basics long after the basics feel repetitive.
